Our Community Center

Coptic Orthodox Church of St. George in Brooklyn started its service on the eve of December 31st 1972. Throughout the years it was evident to see Gods continuous work and grace, leading to such a prosperous church. As the variety of services for the children, youth, families and elders began increasing the need for a designated center for all these services became indispensable. Having a center would benefit the church and enhance the lives of the congregation as well as the surrounding communities.

Through the grace and will of God, the church was finally able to purchase land located 4 blocks away from the church. This was of great convenience and a blessing for the congregation of the church. Although a great deal of effort was needed for the preparation of the design, various permits and approvals from different official authorities, overtime everything was successfully completed. On August 1st 2008 the actual construction of The St. George Community Center began with a target opening date scheduled for the summer 2011 with Gods will.

First Level • Reception area • Administrative offices • Day Care classes There will be two day care classes to accommodate 1- 2 year old toddlers. • Multipurpose hall This hall will have commercial kitchen and a theater stage: this hall will stand to be the central for the entire center. The hall will be equipped with high definition cameras for live streaming and broadcasting purposes for all events. The hall may be utilized in many different capacities including: • An official basketball court that can be evenly divided into two smaller courts for non official games or practicing purposes. • Banquet hall The beautiful drop ceiling and the custom design of the lighting, sound systems and commercial kitchen will make it a first class catering hall. • Theater hall This will include a professionally build stage and seats holding the capacity of 900 persons. Many artistic shows and plays will be performed as well as presentations for the day care and senior citizen programs.

Third Level • Seven 1 bedroom apartments for senior citizens

Forth Level • Nine 1 bedroom apartments • One 3 bedroom apartment • Recreational room To accommodate prayers, meetings and various social activities for senior citizens • A surrounding terrace To be used as an outdoor outlet for the senior citizens
